Ski School - Winter 2015/16

Ski School and Kindergarten - Why book your ski lessons in advance?

We can pre-book ski school at many resorts subject to availability and we would particularly recommend that you do so, especially at peak times in order to avoid possible disappointment.

All the ski school instructors are required to speak English but the level does vary.

Ski school is an important part of most people's skiing holiday, whether they are beginners or just wish to improve their style and technique. All our resorts have extensive ski school facilities. The Ecole de Ski Français (ESF) is by far the largest and most established.

There are kindergarten and crèche facilities in each of the resorts featured. Whilst we can normally book ski kindergarten for children aged 4 years and over, resort crèches are independently operated and since we have not inspected these facilities we are unable to pre-book them. Standards and services do however have to comply with local regulations. We can provide you with contact details of most crèche facilities in each resort. Please enquire with a member of the Ski Collection team for details.

Ski School levels

You will be asked at time of booking which of the below skier you are:

Adults

Children

Beginners: You have never skied before.

Level 1: You have skied for one week, can take a drag lift and ski on green slopes.

Level 2: You can turn parallel on blue slopes but do not feel confident on red slopes.

Level 3: You can turn parallel on all types of slopes except in powder.

Grand Tourisme: You can make short turns in mogul fields, steep slopes, in all types of snow conditions and all types of ski areas.

Beginners (from 4yrs old): Your child has never skied before or has completed their 'Ourson'. They will start the week at the kindergarten. According to their level, they then move on to open slopes. A lift pass is then necessary in this case.

1st star preparation: Your child can take a drag-lift and has the 'Flocon'. They can snowplough on green slopes.

2nd star preparation: Your child has the 1st star. They can ski with ease on gentle slopes.

3rd star preparation: Your child has the 2nd star and can turn parallel on blue and red slopes.

After the 3rd star: Bronze star, Gold star and then introduction to Competition, Grand Tourisme or Snowboard.
