The wonderfully elegant Hotel du Lion d'Or is perfectly placed in the centre of Cauterets, a short walk from the lift, shops and restaurants. Built in the 19th century, this traditional hotel, with its blue shuttered windows and wrought iron balconied facade has been run by the same family for four generations - a huge factor in its homely, extremely warm and friendly nature.

Natural stone and wood is used throughout the hotel creating a warm and relaxing setting in an authentic atmosphere. The cosy bar is a great place to relax next to the brick-built fireplace with an evening aperitif made from one of the local fruit liqueurs - be sure to keep an eye out for the proudly polished gramophone that sits atop the bar! The traditional and comfortable rooms are beautifully styled - each room having its own unique, quirky decor punctuated with some of the many antiquities that you will find throughout the hotel. Modern bathrooms and flat screen TVs give the rooms a luxurious feel.

For those preparing to spend a day on the mountain, the carefully crafted "Cravings Breakfast Buffet" is a great way to start the day - the homemade seasonal jams and cakes are a must try! Cauterets' winter sports experience has two facets, the Cirque du Lys - a natural bowl in which to enjoy hiking and cycling, and the nearby world famous Pont d’Espagne - one of the great natural wonder of the Pyrenees offers in a magical environment.

After all the exertion on the slopes and trails, a little pampering may be in order. Just across the road from the hotel is the famous “Les Bains Du Rocher”, where modern design meets therapeutic thermal waters in a selection of indoor and outdoor pools and massaging water jets that invigorate and relax all at the same time.

Each of the warm and welcoming rooms at Hotel du Lion D’Or has an individual style and is personally designed by the owner and takes its inspiration from the mountains, lakes and flowers of the region. They all have Wi-Fi internet access, flat-screen TV, Cable TV, mini fridge, direct dial telephone and safe.  The bathrooms have showers or a bath with shower attachment, heated towel rail, hairdryer and sometimes a separate WC. A courtesy tray awaits you on your arrival and has a kettle and a selection of hot drinks (tea, herbal tea & coffee).  Some rooms have balconies (on a request only basis).
